Dozens of new fall television shows have premiered this season, and we here at Dartbeat have our Top 3 pics, because you obviously really need a break from Government 5 reading.

The Mindy Project (Fox)

Premieres: Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 9:30 p.m.

Oh Mindy Kaling ’01, is there anything you aren’t amazing at? Diehard “The Office” fans may remember the time Kelly Kapoor introduced herself as Bridget Jones to a customer, saying in a Bridget voice, “I like ice cream. I need a boyfriend.” Kaling’s latest project, “The Mindy Project,” is along that line, chronicling Kaling’s character as a Bridget Jones-like OB-GYN who pines for true love while trying to balance her burgeoning career. Bill Hader from “Superbad” (2007) and Richard Schiff, or Toby from “The West Wing,” co-star.

Animal Practice (NBC)

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m.

Yes, yes that’s a monkey in doctor clothes. NBC’s newest comedy, “Animal Practice,” is a new breed of the typical medical TV show (think “House,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “ER”). Dr. George Coleman (Justin Kirk) works as a gifted veterinarian at Crane Animal Hospital who must deal when a former flame takes over the place. He winds down by playing poker games with resident capuchin, Dr. Rizzo (Crystal the Monkey), who you may remember from “Community” and “The Hangover Pt. II” (2011).

Go On (NBC)

Premieres: Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 9 p.m.

Because Matthew Perry is funny, just oh so misunderstood. After a string of failed pilots, it looks like “Go On” might be the one for Perry. The talented “Friends” star will return to NBC as sportscaster Ryan King, a widower who is forced to go to a support group following the passing of his wife. But — wait for it — it’s a comedy.
